I am seeing a similar practical implication in a packaging/fulfillment use case. For curated storefront builders, context.intent being soft means a builder cannot reliably create a shipping-supplies aisle by saying packaging / fulfillment intent and trusting the global catalog to surface the right merchant.

Concrete example: Packrift is a UCP-native Shopify packaging merchant and is indexed in the global catalog, but generic head terms such as shipping boxes or corrugated boxes can still miss it because merchant authority/ranking dominates the result set. For a curated storefront, the stronger pattern is explicit source selection for the vertical shelf, then merchant-scoped UCP/MCP for exact product, price, inventory, and buyer-confirmed handoff.

One concrete Shopping subvertical to keep in mind during the multi-vertical refactor is packaging / fulfillment supplies. It is still Shopping, but it behaves differently from general retail discovery: buyers often specify dimensions, material, pack count, SKU, or warehouse use case, and a nearby substitute can be wrong if dimensions/material/count do not match.

Packrift is a live UCP-native packaging merchant that can be used as an implementation example:
